Marriott Harrison is actively increasing its international offering, focusing on key jurisdictions across all of its departments. .

Below are some recent examples of Marriott Harrison's international work.

MH Corporate

The Corporate Department continues to advise on a large number of international transactions. This includes acting for:

 

a US law firm acting for a US branch of a UK clearing bank taking security over certain UK listed assets;

 

an English company on the purchase of an orthopaedic implant devices business from a New Jersey based multi-national company;

 

a Russian software developer in the worldwide marketing of an award-winning platform game for handheld devices;

 

an English company, advising on the English law elements of a European group reorganisation;

 

an English designer swimwear company in connection with opening a shop in New York;

 

an English fashion designer in a share sale of a high profile fashion label based in the UK, the US and Brazil;

 

an English seller of shares in a technology company to an American company;

 

an American company in a mandatory bid for a petroleum exploration and production company with assets based in Texas;

 

an Irish company in connection with the acquisition of media rights from a large international media group; and

 

an English innovation consultancy and software business, which receives 96% of its revenue from the US, on the placing of an open offer on AIM.

MH Dispute Resolution

MH Dispute Resolution has acted in the following matters:

 

the registration and enforcement of two European Enforcement Orders handed down by a District Court of Berlin; and

 

the registration and enforcement of a judgment handed down by the regional Court of Paris on behalf of a French media company.

MH Employment

MH Employment acted in the following matters for:

 

an international mining company in respect of its senior executive arrangements;

 

a UK subsidiary of a NASDAQ quoted financial services institution in connection with employment matters; and

 

a Chinese cleantech company on a service contract between its UK subsidiary and a senior employee.

The MH Employment team, with the MH Corporate team, has acted for an American manufacturing company in the setting up of a UK subsidiary, dealing with the corporate and employment issues.

MH Media & Technology

The Media and Technology Department has acted for:

 

a German company entering into a software co-development agreement governed under English law;

 

a Belarus based software developer entering into an agreement with a US platform provider governed under English law;

 

a UK based medical expert in connection with media matters arising out of his work with a Swiss company on a slimming aid being franchised in Australia;

 

a Czech based film production company acquiring an option to make a feature film based on a South African copyright work; and

 

a Budapest based independent music company in its dealings with a UK indie band.

MH Property

The MH Property Department has acted for:

 

one of the ten largest banks in the Middle East in connection with a UK property purchase for one of its borrowers in Saudi Arabia, acting through a BVI company; and

 

a sovereign state in the purchase of a freehold property in Trafalgar Square as its new Embassy.

MH Property continues to act for a Malaysian bank in relation to buy-to-let residential property lending work in the UK to borrowers based in Malaysia.

Conferences and Events

In October 2011, Hugh Gardner is joining the UKIBC delegation to Mumbai, New Delhi and Chandigarh, which will focus on SMEs in these cities.

In October 2011, Duncan Innes and Peter Curnock will be attending the International Bar Association conference in Dubai.
